Joel Baldwin is a composer based in London whose works for acoustic and electronic instruments can be heard in the concert hall as well as alongside projects in dance, film and digital media. Joel has collaborated with some of today’s foremost performers of new music and a number of experimental artists and film directors.

He studied music as an undergraduate at the University of Southampton with Michael Zev Gordon and Matthew Scott where he also performed as a percussionist with the Contemporary Music Ensemble and other new music groups. He later went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Composition at The Royal College of Music, where he is currently studying with Jonathan Cole.

Joel has written works for the BBC Singers, the Composers’ Ensemble and a number of well-known soloists but has a deep interest in musical education and enjoys writing for amateur performers as well. Joel also expresses his multi-faceted artistic interests through photography, film and visual art, often incorporating elements of these into his composition.
